Community Ecology and Genetic Analysis
For prospective graduate students, obtaining a graduate degree in biology can open doors to new career opportunities from research to teaching to policy. However, a graduate degree is not merely an extension of a bachelor's degree - it is fundamentally different in its goals.  The main goal of the graduate degree is to generate new scientific knowledge.  This is awesome and creative, and ultimately yours.  Along the way, the graduate student learns to think critically and scientifically, write logically and coherently, orally present and defend ideas, mentor other students, and perform experiments.  These skills have broad applicability within and beyond the biological sciences.
